Let us know what impact the changes in our state government are having on your community.

What effect are the cutbacks and privatization of services at the State level having on your local economy?

Are you able to contact State agencies and get the help you need easier?  Can you find you want on the state web site: http://www.myflorida.com  (4/4/01 - thank god it's "outsourced" no more and getting better)

Are government checks on time?  Are schools getting remodeled?  Classes getting smaller?  Are there enough qualified teachers in your local schools?

Are Human Services harder to get?  Are your children safer? Are restaurants cleaner?  Is there less incidence of food contamination?  How's the drinking water? Are Parks closed more?  Are you noticing more signs of pollution?

Government provides services we need.  Businesses make money.  At the expense of their bottom line, will businesses provide services or seek higher profits?

As citizens we need to know the truth. Not some of the truth, but the whole thing.  Recently with the changes put forth by governor Jeb Bush and the Florida legislature, the workers in many state agencies have been instructed not to speak to anyone outside of their agency about issues pertaining to work.  This prohibition applies not only to the press, but to the legislators we have elected to represent us in government. It most definitely applies to the general public at large.

We all need to know, we need to inquire, and we need to hear all sides of the story.

Participation in this project is easy.  This is not a poll, and there are no right or wrong answers.  We do ask that your responses be studied, not just opinions, and not geared to finding fault or placing political blame.

It begins with the monitoring the news in your local area...
